ANN: Digital symposium – Women Entrepreneurs: women asserting themselves in the art market (online, 22 Oct 2022)

On 10/22/2021, the digital symposium “Women Entrepreneurs: women asserting themselves in the art market”, jointly organized by  Kunstmuseum Stuttgart and ZADIK, will take place.

Research into the role of women in the art market in general, and in particular of women gallerists who played a significant role in the dissemination of abstract-concrete art, still forms a desideratum in the research discourse. In contrast to many of their male colleagues,  female pioneers in the art market have received less attention so far.  The aim of the symposium is to present women gallerists and their work in cooperation with women artists in keynote lectures. At the same time, strategic aspects and possible reasons for deciding on an artistic program will be presented and demonstrated against the background of prevailing trends.

The subsequent panel discussion will examine the role of women in the art business with a view to networks, cooperations, or overarching structural issues. At the same time, it will address the potentials and challenges for women gallery owners in the art market up to the present day and against the backdrop of changing global contexts.

Please register in advance to participate in the symposium via Zoom at: https://witam.hypotheses.org/113!
