TIAMSA would like to extend a warm thank you to all the participants, our convenors Dr Georgina S. Walker and Associate Professor Christopher R. Marshall, the University of Melbourne and Faculty of Arts and the key sponsors Australian Institute of Art History and Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London for their participation, their impeccable organization and their support of our annual conference which took place at University of Melbourne, 10-13 July 2024.
Around 80 proposals were received for the conference, out of which 67 were selected by the Conference Advisory sub-committee. The conference was attended by around 500 people (both in person and virtual).
Academics, museum and art market professionals traveled to Melbourne from Italy, Poland, Croatia, Portugal, Brazil, USA, UK, Belgium, China, HK, Japan, India, Germany, Switzerland, Brazil, Austria and interstate (Adelaide and Sydney). Representatives from USA, UK, China, HK, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, France, Puerto Rico, France, Brazil, The Netherlands, UAE, South Korea presented online.
The keynote lecture was presented by Franchesca Cubillo, Executive Director, First Nations Arts and Culture, Creative Australia ‘Blk Lik Mi’. To listen to the recording click on the link.
A series of side events enriched the conference, from a student masterclass to visits to the cultural and art institutions of Melbourne, the participants enjoyed a deep immersion into the cultural diversity of the city.
The recording of all the papers will be available by the mid of September 2024.
Our annual conference demonstrates the strength of our field and the diversity of our community. TIAMSA Board members, Kim and I look forward to working with the organizers of the 2025 conference.
