This workshop, held in partnership with the Gilbert Collection at the V&A and supported by the National Trust, examined the social and commercial connections of Jewish dealers across Europe, the hostility they encountered, and their role in the development of the global art market.
The programme will include two live-streamed keynote lectures: Mark Westgarth on Jewish dealers of London’s Bond Street on Thursday 9th September, and Julia Phillips Cohen & Devi Mays on North African and Middle Eastern Jews as Arts and Antiquities Dealers in Belle Époque Paris (Thursday 14th September).
