Am Montag, dem 24. August 2020, um 18.00 Uhr hält Paul Turnbull (Emeritus Professor of History and Digital Humanities, University of Tasmania) einen Vortrag zum Thema:
Who Knows? Who Should Know? Indigenous Knowledge and Provenance Research

In this presentation, the ethical, intellectual and practical implications and challenges of using digital technologies in provenance research are considered. Several recent cases in which Australian and other Indigenous peoples have sought the return of ancestral human remains, or culturally important artefacts from European museums, are reviewed. In doing so, attention is drawn to how Indigenous cultural norms regarding the transmission, circulation, access and uses of knowledge can further complicate the often already complex processes involved in repatriating the dead and significant cultural property.

Die Teilnahme an der Veranstaltung ist kostenfrei. Aufgrund der begrenzten Kapazität ist die Teilnahme jedoch nur nach vorheriger Anmeldung bis zum 21.08.2020 möglich.
Nach erfolgter Anmeldung erhalten die Teilnehmer am Tag der Veranstaltung die Zugangsdaten zur Konferenz, welche mit dem Anbieter WebEx durchgeführt wird.
