ANN: Newly Published Online Catalogue Entries by TIAMSA Member Asher Miller (The Metropolitan Museum)

TIAMSA Member Asher Miller (Associate Curator, European Paintings, The Metropolitan Museum) recently published a series of catalogue entries for several 19th century paintings, many of them newly acquired by the Metropolitan Museum, New York. Many acquisitions were made possible through the generosity of Eugene V. Thaw (1927-2018), a distinguished New York art dealer specializing in European Old Master and 19th Century paintings and works on paper.

One of these paintings is by Degas, the other by Antoine-Félix Boisselier, an early open-air painter. The latter painting was chosen by Eugene Thaw in consultation with Asher Miller, a particularly notable case of collaboration between a dealer acting in the role of donor and a museum:

Antoine-Félix Boisselier
