The 2025 Annual Conference of The International Art Market Studies Association (TIAMSA) took place on 4–5 July at the Faculty of Law and Administration, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Organized in cooperation with the University and supported by Regional Bar Attorneys at Law in Bydgoszcz and Poznań. On behalf of the association, TIAMSA Chair Kim Oosterlinck and Prof. Alicja Jagielska-Burduk officially opened the conference.
The event brought together scholars, professionals, art historians, economists, lawyers, and cultural policy experts to reflect on the future of the art market under the theme “Art Market – Beyond 2030.” The conference gathered a truly international community, with participants representing at least twelve countries across Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America.
The profound transformation the art market faces in light of geopolitical change, crises, and emergencies was debated. Artificial intelligence and digital technologies were noted as revolutionary forces reshaping artistic creation and the circulation of artworks. Participants also referred to the forthcoming Mondiacult 2025 in Barcelona, where UNESCO will present its first global report on cultural policies. Art market issues were examined from different perspectives, particularly in relation to cultural rights, sustainable development, and heritage protection.
During the conference, the new international network UNITWIN Culture in Emergencies was presented, followed by the Art Law Debate organized by TIAMSA Legal, which addressed specialization and new trends in art law.
The conference also placed strong emphasis on supporting the next generation of researchers. The Young Scholars Panel invited contributions from emerging scholars within five years of completing their PhD, as well as doctoral candidates, master’s graduates, and advanced students. Chaired by experienced academics, the panel gave early-career researchers a platform to present their work and receive constructive feedback.
