Once again, at the annual College Art Association Conference in New York last February,
TIAMSA supported two excellent sessions.
Dr Caterina Toschi chaired a fascinating session titled: Women Art Dealers and Collectors
Promoting Non-Western Arts: The Case of Pre-Columbian Art and the Indigenous Arts of North
America. Four case studies highlighted the career of four women, Inès Amor and the galeria de
Arte Mexicano, Mrs. Freyer who bought Colonial Peruvian Art to the United State, Elizabeth
Easby, a scholar collector of pre-Columbian Jade and Fiamma Vigo who through her gallery
supported Peruvian Contemporary art in the 1950s and 1960s. For more information see:

Later on in the day, Diana Kral and Anne-Kathrine Gerlieb co-chaired another very engaging
panel called, Methodological Approaches in Art Market Studies. Amy Whitaker discussed the
primacy of market data for understanding artists as producers and Guy Schegler presented the
multitude of consequences linked to adopting a performativity approach in art market studies.

The success of these two sessions highlights the cross-disciplinary nature of our field of Art
Market Studies. TIAMSA looks forward to the contribution of our members to the 2026 College
Art Association.
Please find below the call for sessions for CAA 2026.
TIAMSA is inviting proposals from its members for its sponsored session at the next CAA
conference, to be held February 18–21, 2026 in Chicago.
All topics are welcome, and the chair or co-chairs can propose a session with the speakers
already in place or one that will solicit speakers through CAA’s open call. If you are interested in
chairing this session, please submit a title, a 250-word description, and your CV by April 30th.
The chair(s) must be current TIAMSA members, and anyone who joins by April 30th is eligible.
Please email materials to TIAMSA coordinator Masoom Pincha at:
masoom.pincha@artmarketstudies.org . The selection will be made in time for unsuccessful
proposals to be submitted directly to CAA for consideration.
Best wishes,
Véronique
