The Getty Provenance Index (GPI), remodeled as linked data, launched on the open-source Arches platform on May 1st. As part of this first release, the Dealer Stock Books and Sales Catalogs datasets are available in Arches, with Archival Inventories to follow at a later date. During this transition, the older platform will continue to run in parallel. Please visit theoverview page to learn more about what is covered, and we will be continuously updating the user guide on how to use the remodeled GPI.
We are looking forward to familiarizing our users with the new GPI and its many enhanced functions, so we invite our community to sign up for training sessions by filling out this form. As an open-source platform, the GPI in Arches will be continuously improved, and Index data will continue to be enriched and added. Your feedback is important, so please send us your questions or suggestions via this form.
Restructured as linked data, the remodeled GPI exposes networks of relationships, allowing for researchers to follow objects and people, through time and space, and facilitates connections with other cultural heritage datasets, thereby opening up an endless range of possibilities for inquiry. The team would like to thank you for your continuing use of the GPI. We look forward to seeing you soon at one of our online or in-person trainings!
