In the history of the exhibition, it is mainly the names of male exhibition curators that have been and are mainly retained and cited. Yet many women exhibition curators and curators have led international institutions and/or exhibitions. This study day wants to show the role these women have played, the exhibitions they have organized, the scenographic devices they have invented, often in collaboration with architects and designers. Among other topics, some exhibitions by curators and directors of institutions such as Caterina Marcerano, Dorothy Miller and Ida Gianelli, but also Bice Curiger and Camille Morineau will be addressed. The work of independent commissioners Lucy Lippard and Jermayne MacAgy will also be discussed as well as that of the commissioner artists such as Lubaina Himid.
