Best Wishes for 2026

Dear TIAMSA Members,

Anne-Sophie and I would like to wish you and your loved ones a happy and healthy New Year 2026. In troubled times, culture and art can provide spaces where dialogue and cooperation are fostered. The TIAMSA community reflects these ideals, and we look to 2026 as a very special year as we celebrate our 10th anniversary. Founded in 2016 by a small group of dedicated professionals, TIAMSA has since encouraged knowledge sharing and networking across disciplines.

One of the most significant milestones of 2025 was TIAMSA becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). We extend our sincere thanks to trustee Philipp Nürnberger for guiding us through this complex process. This new status will strengthen our ability to ensure the organization’s growth and sustainability for years to come, notably through fundraising. You can expect more information about this in the coming weeks.

Following Melbourne in 2024, our annual conference took us to Poland in 2025. Organized in collaboration with Adam Mickiewicz University and hosted by trustee Alicja Jagielska-Burduk, it once again demonstrated the global reach of our association. In 2026, we will celebrate our anniversary in New York. Please save the date for the next TIAMSA Annual Conference, hosted by trustee Natasha Degen and Sotheby’s Institute of Art, in October 2026. More details will follow, but we already look forward to this opportunity to acknowledge our founders and reflect on what we have achieved and where we hope to be in ten years!

Knowledge sharing and supporting the next generation of art world professionals remain central to TIAMSA’s mission. In this spirit, we have strengthened the Live Book Discussion (LBD) program, and we encourage you to watch the recordings if you missed any sessions. In 2026, two LBDs are already scheduled January 15 and February 26. Please remember to sign up and join: it is a great way to stay connected with colleagues.

We are also especially proud of the launch of the TIAMSA Emerging Scholars Forum (ESF). Building on the sessions devoted to emerging scholars at previous conferences, and extending this support beyond the annual meeting, we created an online program to address issues faced by emerging scholars. We received many strong applications, selected ten participants, and we look forward to following the development of their individual research projects over the year. The program was spearheaded by trustee Georgina Walker, Julie Verlaine, Anne-Sophie, and myself. We also look forward to welcoming the ESF participants at the October 2026 conference. Applications for the next cohort will be posted in early spring. We are also thinking of a book project that would bring together methodological insights for researchers interested in embarking on art market studies.

Looking ahead, the annual College Art Association conference will take place in Chicago on February 18–21, 2026. Trustee Adelaide Duarte and Marta Pérez-Ibáñez will chair a session titled “Navigating Uncertainty: Art Markets in Peripheral and Global South Regions.” If you plan to attend, we hope you will join us, and please watch for announcements regarding special events.

Finally, TIAMSA is your association, and we warmly encourage you to get involved. Please send us suggestions for books to feature, and do forward announcements and calls for papers. We are here to help, and we can always do better.

We also want to take this opportunity to thank our dear Coordinator, Masoom Pincha, whose commitment to the association has made so much possible.

With our best wishes for 2026,

Anne-Sophie and Véronique
