CFP: 2nd Gustav Klimt Symposium (Villa Toscana – Gmunden, Austria, 23-24 Mar 2024)

The invitation to submit applications for participation in the 2nd Gustav Klimt Symposium is addressed to established national and international scholars in the field of cultural history research on Gustav Klimt and the period “Vienna 1900” as well as to young scholars with ongoing or completed master’s theses and dissertations in the context of the conference topics.

Deadline: 1 Oct 2023

The symposium in March 2024 will focus on the following research areas related to Gustav Klimt and his artistic environment:

– Portraying and collecting: Gustav Klimt and the Wittgenstein Family
– Dining, dancing, saloning: Turn-of-the-Century Salon Culture in the Big City and on Summer Retreats
– Networking and corresponding: Artists and Collectors in the Salzkammergut
– Nature and garden: Garden architecture in the country house and the town villa

The submission (German or English) must include working title/research focus, abstract (300 words incl. spaces), short biography and contact details.

The submission deadline is October 1, 2023. There are no submission fees to pay.
