Provenance Research Fellowship at the OKCMOA funded by Samuel H. Kress Foundation (2019 – 2020)
The Oklahoma City Museum of Art is looking for a post-graduate in art history interested in provenance research. The successful fellow will spend a year at the OKCMOA, using museum records and digital records to start the research project. The local research work can be supplemented, as needed, with short trips to research sites. This fellowship offers the fellow the opportunity to learn how to conduct provenance research in a museum setting, to develop an understanding of the available resources for this research, and to gain experience in a museum ’s curatorial division.
The position will start on September 9, 2019.

About the Fellowship: Samuel H. Kress Foundation Provenance Research Fellowship (AAMD/Kress Fellowship) is a one-year fellowship supported by Kress Foundation in collaboration with The Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD). The Fellowship will include:
•$30,000 stipend to be awarded to the museum for the Fellow, to be paid on schedule by AAMD
•$8,000 for travel expenses for the Fellow and the mentor.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Assist with provenance research on a wide variety of objects, utilizing libraries, archives, and online resources.
• Develop bibliographies and exhibition histories for objects as needed.
• This internship offers the fellow the opportunity to learn how to conduct provenance research in a museum setting, to develop an understanding of the available resources for this research, and to gain experience in a museum’s curatorial division.
Required Skills:
• M.A. in Art History or a related discipline required. Completed
• Demonstrated research skills across a broad spectrum of art history as well as a specialized focus within the fields of European and American Art.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to historic and contemporary issues of provenance.
• Developed writing and speaking skills for communicating with audiences ranging from the general public to international scholars.
• Demonstrated experience designing, executing, and completing high-level scholarly research projects (education may be considered).
• 2 years experience in an academic setting, research institute, or art museum (education may be considered).
• Fluency in at least one foreign language is a plus.
