JOB: Senior Lecturer & Course Leader in MA Art Business, Kingston School of Art, London


Kingston University London is looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Course Leader to lead the MA Art Business course situated in the School of Creative and Cultural Industries, Kingston School of Art. The MA Art Business course is for those looking to work within the ever-changing artistic, cultural and economic environment of the global art market.

This unique course is taught in partnership with the Kingston Business School allowing students access to cutting-edge business thinking providing a stimulating combination of the creative culture of an art school and the business grounding of real world contexts. Making the most of its location in London, one of leading global art market capitals, this Art Business MA degree draws on a high standard of interdisciplinary academic and practical teaching by recognised scholars. It also offers insights from art market professionals, both those with long-standing careers and those who are rising entrepreneurs of the millennial generation. In short, the curriculum balances skills training with academic rigor, as well as core business and legal concepts with industry-specific knowledge in order to reflect the diverse professional landscape students might wish to enter.

As Course Leader, you will be responsible for delivering leadership, high quality teaching, curriculum development and assessment for this exciting postgraduate course. You will be expected to use your experience to shape the course to provide a distinct MA Art Business experience focused on current industry practices and rapidly evolving future market innovations. We are looking for an energetic person with vision and an ability to lead, who can inspire research and develop learning through an industry-focused, collaborative, postgraduate curriculum.

This is an opportunity to work with a leading team of academics and practitioners in the School of Creative and Cultural Industries and more broadly across Kingston School of Art and the Kingston Business School. You will contribute to the teaching, professional engagement and research activities of the Department/School. You will be comfortable when working collaboratively with other courses across faculties to develop the subject discipline of Art Business. Working side-by-side with talented colleagues you’ll share knowledge and expertise through professional consultancy, pursuing opportunities that will generate profitable income and supporting students with valuable placements wherever possible.

You will have a profile in the art world and have appropriate experience of teaching, academic administration and research. In this role you will develop the subject reputation and enhance our teaching and learning experience as part of the community of educators, practitioners and researchers working at UG and PG levels across the School of Creative and Cultural Industries and be able to build on the trans-disciplinary community culture at Kingston University.

This is a permanent, part-time position (22.2 hours per week) with a starting salary of £26,768.40 (60% to £44,614 per annum)
